Description
Amazingly detailed Byers' Choice Ltd The Carolers, Retired Lady Doll Maker/Vendor made in 1995 in Chalfont, Pa. The piece is completely hand crafted with artist designed and hand sewn clothing and painted clay face. She stands 13 1/2" tall, 6" wide and is 4 1/2" from front to back. The figure is mounted on a round wood base painted green. It is signed by Joyce Byers and dated on the base behind the skirt. The original foil label is on the bottom with the company name & location, the date and series name. The lady is dressed in Victorian style clothing; a long green tweed skirt, brown vest and white ruched apron with eyelet trim. She wears a green felt cape and matching hood over her grey hair. A little sprig of holly is on her hood. A pair of gold toned wire spectacles are perched on her nose. She holds a little doll in one hand and carries a round pretzel weave wicker basket on her other arm with 2 more dolls in it. The dolls are hand sewn and dressed as well. The lady's head is a bit loose but is attached well. The bottom of the base has some minor paint wear. Otherwise the figure is in excellent condition.
