This adorable doll features a "U.S. Mail" postman holding the first Christmas card ever sent. The Byers Choice 1990 " Caroler Cronicle" states the following: "Presenting Our New Special Figures For 1990" "One Of The Most Popular Sorts: The Postman. Who can imagine Christmas without all those cards spilling out of the mailbox each day? But it wasn't even until the mid 1800's that holiday celebrants got to have the fun of anticipating lots of mail. Our postman, who holds a reproduction of the very first Christmas card sent in 1843, wears a blue felt unifrom in the style of the mid-1800's and carries a pouch emblazoned with "U.S. Mail". What a welcome holiday sight! This doll is approximately 13" tall, in excellent condition for its age and has been well taken care of over the years. This is definitely a very collectible Byers Choice doll that would make a wonderful addition to any decor or collection, as it is retired, rare and hard to find due to the year it was produced.
